We all carry stress—some of us wear it on our shoulders, others bury it deep until it shows up as fatigue, pain, or disconnection. For years, I didn’t have the words or tools to manage the stress I grew up with. Raised by a single mother on the Nambe Pueblo Reservation, I lived in survival mode for most of my childhood. Breathing didn’t come easy. Speaking felt like a battlefield. And I had no idea that my stutter, thumb sucking, and nervous energy were the body’s response to chronic stress.
Movement became my outlet. Sports became my language. And eventually, through years of personal setbacks, academic pressure, athletic competition, and professional challenges, I learned the importance of self-regulation—the ability to consciously control how we respond to stress.
It wasn’t a straight path. It took years, mentors, and moments of clarity. And it all came together through one person—Jose Maresma.
I met Jose Maresma back in 2013, and our connection has shaped much of my personal and professional growth. But it was during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020—when Jose gave a virtual workshop called “Win Your Day” to our Performance Ranch community—that everything clicked.
That talk became the catalyst for my daily routine: breathwork, cold water immersion, and showing up each day with intentionality and presence. Jose didn’t just give me tools—he helped me reclaim agency over how I respond to life’s pressure.
Jose is a clinical exercise physiologist, a trained Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction coach, and a lifelong student of performance and presence. More than that—he’s become a trusted friend and guide.
Together, Jose and I combined nearly 60 years of experience to create something new: The Thermal Lab—a recovery and mental performance studio built to help leaders, athletes, and wellness seekers become more resilient, focused, and present.
At the Thermal Lab, we use contrast therapy (sauna + cold plunge) to reset the nervous system, enhance circulation, and build tolerance to stress. It’s not about toughness. It’s about learning how to stay calm in the heat of life’s most intense moments—and then act with clarity.
We’ve also integrated breathwork, self-regulation techniques, and mindset coaching into our programs. Because what good is a strong body if your mind is always in fight-or-flight?
We believe Albuquerque is ready for this. Our community is full of leaders and aspiring leaders who care about health, longevity, and showing up powerfully for their families, teams, and missions.
The Thermal Lab and Performance Ranch are now offering tools that support:
It’s more than wellness. It’s the future of performance.
If you’re a leader, business owner, coach, or high performer who wants to build real resilience—not just for today, but for decades to come—we invite you to experience the Thermal Lab.
Come learn what it means to train your nervous system, to breathe through the discomfort, and to reclaim your ability to respond rather than react.
Let’s build a healthier, more present, and more powerful version of you—starting now.
